Master Chief or Senior Chief Officers serve as Chief of the Boat or "COB". The COB, along with the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer form the nucleus of the Command Triad which establishes the performance, culture and mission readiness of all of our ships.
The COB is directly responsible for all aspects of the crew’s training and the ship's material readiness to the Captain. He or she serves as a voice of the enlisted Sailor within the wardroom as well as leading the Chiefs Mess.
The Command Master Chief pin is earned after selection and rigorous training and worn with pride by our most senior Sailors.
