DC-Based Business Leaders Tour USS Pasadena (SSN-752)

A group of DC based business leaders had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tour the USS PASADENA (SSN-752) and meet many of her Sailors on Friday, September 19. The tour provided business leaders the opportunity to learn about the mission of the Submarine Force before attendees were briefed on "their" submarine, the USS District of Columbia (SSBN-826), which is expected to commission in 2029.

Retired RADM David Goggins, Chair, USS District of Columbia Commissioning Committee, and Mr. David Orr, CEO Orr Partners and USS DC Committee Member, co-hosted the event with exceptional support from VADM Robert Gaucher, Commander, Submarine Forces | Commander, Submarine Force Atlantic and LT Andrew (AJ) Johnson, Public Affairs Officer, Submarine Group TWO. We'd like to give a huge shout out of thanks to CDR Andrew Cole, Commanding Officer, USS PASADENA (SSN-752), his exceptional leadership team, and extremely professional Crew, who lived up to their motto, "Anytime, Anywhere."
President/CEO & Chief Innovation Officer at Massa Products Corporation, Ms. Dawn Massa Standcavish, uses a sound powered phone – invented by her Grandfather, Frank Massa – onboard USS PASADENA (SSN-752).

Guests heard opening remarks from Admiral Goggins and David Orr as well as Commissioning expert, Maryellen Baldwin, President and CEO, Navy League of the United States, Hampton Roads, followed by well-received remarks from our Guest Speaker, RADM Lorin Selby, USN (ret), 26th Chief of Naval Research and former Commanding Officer, USS Greeneville (SSN 772).

The DC business leaders expressed gratitude at having the opportunity to experience firsthand the pride and professionalism of the PASADENA's Crew and left Norfolk feeling incredible gratitude for the sacrifices of those who serve in our Navy.  Additionally, they noted feeling immense pride in our nation’s ability to design, innovate, and build this impressive feat of engineering as well as the future USS District of Columbia which will be the largest and most advanced submarine ever built by our nation! The entire day underscored the 34th Chief of Naval Operations' (CNO) message to the Fleet: Built in the Foundry - Tempered in the Fleet - Forged to Fight.
