"Patrolling" Naval Submarine League's 43rd Annual Symposium & Industry Update

The Naval Submarine League (NSL) invited the USS District of Columbia Commissioning Committee to support their 8 January 2026 43rd Annual Symposium & Industry Update (ASIU) hosted in Carahsoft's Reston facility.
ASIU attendee CAPT Dale Lumme, USN(ret) prepares to "launch" a ballistic missile (nerf dart) at the "adversary" (ceiling)!

Throughout the day, attendees at this key NSL event heard from an impressive line-up of U.S. Navy speakers, networked, and took a brief "patrol" on our six foot working model of the future USS District of Columbia (SSBN-826).  A number of attendees had an opportunity to "launch" missiles (nerf darts) at the day's adversary (the ceiling!) while learning a little more about what will be the world's largest, stealthiest, and most capable submarine in the world on commissioning in 2029.
USS District of Columbia Commissioning Committee member, Susan Chiaravalle, demonstrates our working model of the USS District of Columbia (SSBN-826) for an ASIU attendee

USS District of Columbia Commissioning Committee Volunteers, Beth Klein and Susan Chiaravalle, conducted demonstrations and spoke with attendees on Committee goals and activities.  We're especially grateful to those attendees who opted to "Join our Crew" by becoming Contributors!
