Navy’s Best Teams Up with One of IndyCar’s Best

Captain Heath Johnmeyer, Commanding Officer (CO), PCU District of Columbia (SSBN-826), had the opportunity to represent the U.S. Navy and the District of Columbia at the Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250 race.

Little has changed to the configuration of the legendary Milwaukee Mile, which opened in 1903 on the grounds of the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wisconsin.  This one-mile oval drives more like a road course because of the 9-degree banking in the turns, which produces some of the most exciting racing.  Drivers can’t go flat out on the course, which creates overtaking opportunities in the turns as well as the straights.
No. 14 car races by at speeds up to 240 mph.

Not only did the Skipper have the opportunity to meet Larry Foyt, President of A.J. Foyt Enterprises and son of the company's namesake, but also Santonio Ferrucci, driver of the No. 14 Phoenix Investors Chevrolet. In addition to saying hello, Santonio Ferrucci was happy to let the CO "tag" his No. 14 car with the USS District of Columbia’s crest!
CAPT Heath Johnmeyer, Commanding Officer PCU District of Columbia points with Larry Foyt, President of A.J. Foyt Enterprises after "tagging" the No. 14 car with the USS District of Columbia crest.

Like AJ Racing, which has competed at the top levels of motorsports since 1965 and beat the best of the best, the USS District of Columbia will be the largest, most capable and most advanced submarine produced by our nation-the best of the best!
